Private Event Playlist Tips

It’s not easy trying to fit everybody’s music tastes into one event, but following these tips and best practices can help blend them together as seamlessly as possible!

Things to consider for Corporate Events, Holiday Parties, Birthdays, Themed Parties, etc.:

3 Key Aspects:
  1. Analyze group demographics, age range, and preferences
  2. Assess the needs of the event coordinator/figurehead
  3. Think about how you can get as many people on the dance floor collectively
For a corporate event or company holiday party, you need to ask yourself: “How can we get Steve from Accounting on the dance floor at the same time as Karen from HR?”

Once you get people on the dance floor, it’s important to keep them there! Be able to read the room and make adjustments accordingly.

For birthdays and themed parties, it’s easier to tailor the playlist around the preferences of the person celebrating the birthday or fitting the mold of the “theme”.

This doesn’t mean only playing what the birthday person wants, or not deviating at all from the theme, but making sure that they are well represented throughout the majority of the event.

Questions we ask before every event:

  • Do you have a “Do Not Play” list and/or “Must Play” list?
  • What’s your profanity tolerance?
  • Are there any genres to stick to or avoid?
  • Are there any announcements and/or speeches to be made? If so, who is doing them?
  • Is there a specific flow/timeline of events? Do you want certain things done at certain times?
